Our story
Saga Hockey was started in the early 2000s by Tony Orton for O 50s players as an evening midweek Saga Hockey Winter League during the Hockey Season games, a summer tournament Saga Hockey League teams and summer invitational games. Mike Savage took over the organiser role from Tony Orton.
In order to deal with insurance issues and potential uninsured liabilities the organisers of Saga Hockey set up West Midlands Saga Hockey Ltd (the Club), a company limited by guarantee which is non profit making, to run the Saga Hockey activities. The directors of the Club manage the Club’s activities and are voting members of the Club. Players, umpires and administrators who are not directors are non voting members of the Club to deal with hockey regulatory issues.
The Club is affiliated to England Hockey and takes out insurance with England Hockey.
Mike Savage has increased the number of games played by organising games against LX Hockey, Midlands Hockey Masters, Welsh Masters and entering the England Hockey O 55’s cup.
Management

The rules of the Club in the Club Documents tab of the Company’s website explain the legal structure of the Club.
Our approach
The social side of hockey is an important part of the Club’s activities.
The games organised by the Club should to be played in a friendly manner and that disputing the umpire decisions and abusing umpires is unacceptable.
The directors of West Midlands Saga Hockey Ltd look to increase the number of games played.
